Chest Clinic

Synopsis
An interactive computer simulation for teaching the principles of respiratory function testing and diagnosis. Introduces the principles of the investigative methods used to assess respiratory function (spirometry, reversibility studies, peak expiratory flow, lung volumes). Students may select a normal subject of one of a number of case studies that represent common respiratory disorders, including obstructive respiratory disease, emphysema and fibrosis. The student is presented with a patient history and a description of presenting symptoms and may obtain clinically accurate results from all the respiratory funciton tests, which may be compared with predicted normal values.
