Adrenergic Receptors

Synopsis
The human pharmacology of sympathetic stimulation on the heart is illustrated by observations on human volunteers when given isoprenaline to produce a tachycardia, and also when tachycardia is produced by exercise. The haemodynamic effects of sympathetic and catecholamine activity in animals and how these are blocked by propranolol - known as ‘Inderal’, a beta receptor blocking agent, is also shown. Clinical applications of beta receptor blockade are mentioned in the conclusion. Note: The advertising content of the film is rather high.
