Challenging Classroom, The

Synopsis
Focuses on classroom management and organisation to enable an active and co-operative approach to learning in the primary school. Aims to provoke discussion among both experienced educators and those in training. The challenging classroom offers the learner a stimulating and motivating environment. It is organised in such a way that it builds upon children’s experience and provides new, exciting experiences. It gives children opportunities to talk with one another, to work together in a friendly and responsible way, to determine the direction and focus of their own work, to work at their own pace through a variety of activities, and to move freely from one activity to another. Above all it allows the teacher to spend the maximum amount of time actually teaching. Made in collaboration with Kirklees Metropolitan Council Education Service.
