Synopsis
A collection of 19 real-time and time-lapse sequences demonstrating the dynamics of cell locomotion, nuclear division, membrane trafficking, and organelle movements. Uses a wide variety of microscopic and imaging techniques including DIC, fluorescence and 3-D computer animation. Sequences include muscle cells contracting on thin rubber substrata, synchronous mitosis of ‘Drosophila’ embryonic nuclei, an ear hair cell vibrating to music, and fern sperm release.
