- Alternative title
- Uamh an Oir
- Synopsis
- A bilingual Gaelic and English CD-ROM, based on the 1995 film ‘Cave of Gold’, bringing together the oral tradition of Gaelic song, people, places and events. Extracts from two key poems of Sorley Maclean and Iain Crighton-Smith - ‘Uamh an Oir/Cave of Gold’ and ‘Shall Gaelic Die?' are used in tandem with the songs to deepen understanding of Gaelic culture. Work, religious belief, emigration, homesickness, love, war and loss of loved ones are all explored. Uses songs, images, animations and fragments of text to allow users to investigate Gaelic song through quest/sireadh, splitting apart/sgaradh, and reaching out/sineadh.
