Capillary Electrophoresis: An Introduction to Principles and Practice
- Synopsis
- Capillary electrophoresis (CE) is a rapidly developing analytical technique for the separation of water-soluble components from small sample volumes. Its high resolution, speed, reproducibility and ease of method development give it valuable applications in key industrial sectors such as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, specialty chemicals, the water industry and food science. The programme explains how and why CE works, using computer-generated graphics to show the inside of a capillary and video microscopy of electromigration. Covers: principles behind the separation of ionic species by CE; electroosmotic flow; determination of mobility; micellar electrokinetic capillary chromatography; principles of optimisation; injection and detection methods; protein separations; capillary gel electrophoresis.
