Synopsis
Looks at the vital role within the workplace of an appointed first aid person, to implement the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. Details emergency first aid procedures suitable to be carried out by such a person or someone who has attended an emergency first aid course. Also shows that when giving first aid it is vital that the situation be assessed and that the person administering treatment doesn’t himself become a casualty, uses protective clothing and equipment appropriately, acts promptly and does no harm. Also looks at additional responsibilities which include record keeping, checking and restocking first aid boxes and looking after first aid equipment.
