Five programmes covering art from the start of the century to the present and are based on a 1988 Royal Academy exhibition and showing 150 paintings and sculptures in their historical and cultural contexts: 1) 1900-14: Camden Town Group, Omega Workshops, Vorticism; 2) 1914-39: Nevinson, Nash, Dobson, John, Spencer, surrealism, constructivism; 3) 1939-70: Moore, Spencer, Sutherland, Bacon, Freud, Bombert; 4) 1957-70: pop art, Hockney, Caro, Riley; 5) 1959-90s: Brisley, Latham, Burgin, Auerbach, Kosoff, Kitaj, Morley, Long, McLean, Gilbert & George, Flanagan.
