Synopsis
A record of the last working days of the self-acting incline railway built by Stephenson in 1827 to carry coal across the Durham hills to the Tyne. The film concerns the men who worked the line and follows the coal along its route from Kibblesworth Colliery to the ship at Jarrow Staithes.
