Acid Rain: Who Cares?

Synopsis
A Swedish view of the adverse effects of acid rain told through the framework of a conversation between a Swedish boy and his English penfriend, serving to highlight the fact that much of Sweden’s acid rain originates from Great Britain. Shows how tall chimneys at British power stations transfer the problem to Scandinavia. The effects of acid rain on plant and animal life are described. Shows Swedish government attempts to neutralise the effects, e.g. by adding powdered limestone to lake waters and by cleansing flue gases with limestone.
