Working Safely at Containment Level 3

Synopsis
Outlines procedures and practices for staff working in Containment Level 3 (CL3) laboratories and provides guidance on the procedural controls needed to ensure safe working practice. Aims to help staff interpret the COSHH Regulations 1994 when working with infections agents, including mycobacterium tuberculosis (TB), Salmonella typhoid, ‘Bacillus anthracis’ (anthrax), HIV, and hepatitis B and C. Uses animated diagrams to show inward air flow systems and the siting of microbiological safety cabinets and also covers protective clothing, routine cleaning procedures, dealing with spillages, and the need for proper maintenance and testing of equipment in the CL3 laboratory.
