Synopsis
Uses demonstrations, graphics and illustrative footage to explain the formula: work = force x distance.
Shows: work to waste energy (stopping a car by various means); forces in stopping: W=FS becomes F=W/S (plane crashing, rock climbers falling, hammer breaking a rock); toughness (the work needed to break brittle rock and mild steel, Charpy toughness test); power (climbing rates of people, power put out while rappelling, power during an explosion).
