Witchcraft Among the Azande

Alternative title
Azande, The
Synopsis
A study of the Azande of the Sudan who today live a life of obscurity, dominated by magic, oracles and spells. Discusses how their beliefs influence their reactions to such events as an illness, a spoiled crop, an unproductive hunt, a case of adultery and suspected witchcraft. Although the influence of Christianity is growing and the Azande chiefs support its principles, the real power still lies with the witch doctor.
