Which Side Are You on?

Synopsis
Documents aspects of the miners’ strike which began in March 1984, showing the ‘battle of Orgreave’ and the part played by the miners’ wives, the mass arrests of pickets and violence on the picket lines. Scenes in mining communities where miners and their wives document the strike with songs, poetry and cartoons are intercut with footage from the picket lines. The film was never screened by the commissioning television company (London Weekend Television), which felt it to be too politically biased. It was eventually shown in Britain on Channel Four Television after it won a prize at two international festivals.
