Synopsis
Defines biodiversity and looks at the history of the subject area. Describes the biodiversity of different taxonomic groups and discusses where the centres of biodiversity are. Describes methods of counting species numbers and uses interactive extrapolation techniques to calculate how many species there are in the world. Discusses the importance for man of maintaining biodiversity. Approximately 4 hours of teaching material.
