West Gate Bridge

Synopsis
In October 1970, a span of West Gate Bridge in Melbourne collapsed under construction. Redpath Dorman Long International were called in as the new joint contractors to reassess, re-design and help complete the bridge. The film shows the work in the company’s drawing office, before covering the site reconstruction and completion of the cable-stayed bridge. Illustrates the scale of the work and some details of the repair of the steel boxes and the general arrangement of the cable stays.
