Synopsis
Shows 16 waterwheels seen working in 1978 and others no longer in use. Outlines the development of waterwheels in Britain and shows some applications in corn milling (6 watermills operating commercially), the woollen industry (3 mills driven by waterwheels), pumping, ore crushing and driving tilt hammers and grindstones. A tidemill is also shown as is corn grinding by hand-quern, wool carding and spinning by hand.
