Warwork News. No 39
- Synopsis
- 'Warwork News’ is a series of short newsreels produced during World War 2 for distribution in British factories. 1) ‘New pipeline serves Allies in Italy’: a short story on the supply of petrol to the Allied armies in Italy. 2) ‘Ulster at arms’: a long and rare item on Northern Ireland, here described as a ‘loyal member of the British Commonwealth’. It concentrates solely on the province’s contribution to the war effort - mainly agricultural but some industrial wartime production - without ever mentioning past ‘troubles’ or high unemployment.
