Wallace in Wales

Synopsis

Some of Charles Darwin’s fame for the discovery of evolutionary theory is these days shared with fellow scientist Alfred Russel Wallace. Traces his life in South Wales and the Welsh borders, where Wallace spent his formative years, trained as a land surveyor, but became increasing interested in natural history. He travelled through the Neath Valley district and wrote detailed accounts of his botanical and geological observations, eventually leaving Wales to travel widely, collecting natural history specimens.
