Vorticity (2 Parts)

Synopsis
Shows simple experimental demonstrations relating to vorticity and circulation in fluids and explains their concepts and usefulness in understanding fluid motion. Vorticity and circulation are defined in vector form and illustrations are presented in two and three dimensions using a vorticity cross in curved and straight flow. The theorems of Crocco, Kelvin and Helmholtz are discussed together with the importance of Coriolis forces in atmospheric circulations. A meandering river and the flow into the vortex core of a tornado are used as natural illustrations of vorticity phenomena.
