Vision for Essaouira, A

Synopsis: Hopes for an ecologically sustainable future often rest on on the micro-management policies of local authorities. To help Localise Agenda 21, UNCHS(Habitat) is working with the local authority of Essaouira, a small seaside resort in Morocco, to preserve an ancient medina. It has also helped preserve a neighbouring wetland in the region which is a breeding site for a rare type of heron.
