Violence: Towards an Understanding

Synopsis
Examines the possible causes of violence, with instances from a hospital environment used as examples. The first two parts deal with establishments for the mentally handicapped and the mentally ill and the final part looks at the accident and emergency department of a large general hospital. The programme does not suggest courses of action to counter violent instances, rather it seeks to stimulate discussion and point out causes and effects. There are opportunities to stop the tape between each section to allow discussion to take place.
