Synopsis
Three two-audiocassette packs containing collected excerpts from ‘The Archers’ radio serial drama, which was first broadcast on 1 January 1951.
1 (1988): These early episodes set the scene for the development of the series. Includes Phil Archer’s courtship of Grace Fairbrother, the shock of Grace’s death in the fire at the stables, and Walter Gabriel’s worries over his son Nelson.
2 (1988): Episodes depict life at Coombe Farm in the 1950s with Phil and Jill’s growing family, including their anxiety over the birth of their blue baby in 1967; Tom Forrest’s arrest on a murder charge; Tom and Pru’s decision to foster a child; farming disasters that shaped the life of the residents of Ambridge.
3 (1998): The Lost Archers: Previously lost episodes from the 1970s: Tony Archer’s romance with Pat Lewis, Sid and Polly’s bad luck, Jennifer’s romance with Brian, Nora’s relationship with the alcoholic George.
