Black Art: Plotting the Course
- Synopsis
- Based on an exhibition organised by Oldham Art Gallery of works by black artists, who were invited to express their feelings and thoughts about the black artist’s position within the social structure and culture of Britain, and about the effects of racism. In order to reflect these themes, the selectors chose to include works by students and young people as well as pieces by more established artists. The works are very varied, including paintings, sculpture and multi-media studies. The images offer a unique view of the range of work being produced by black artists in Britain today.
