Until Proven Guilty

Synopsis
This series of three one-hour programmes uses the ‘hypotheticals’ technique pioneered in the UK by Granada Television. A panel of police officers, from constable to chief constable, and others from the judiciary and central and local government, are faced with a series of hypothetical situations closely based on real events. They are asked what they would do under those circumstances. In each programme a barrister acts as moderator. In this programme the moderator barrister is Paul Sieghart, who describes a major wages robbery and the development of subsequent police enquiries, the use of an informer, the rights of the suspect and the quality of the evidence.
