Understanding Ovarian Cancer Screening

Synopsis
Current research indicates that ovarian cancer can be inherited. In families with two first-degree affected relatives, there is a one in three chance of developing ovarian cancer. Genetic counselling and screening in such families could improve survival outcome. This video explains the benefits and limitations of ovarian cancer screening and the current regional, national and international developments in service and research programmes. It looks at the evolution and inheritance of genes and highlights the history practical aspects of counselling, benefits and methods of screening and their limitations, current public concerns, and experiences of women who participated in the screening programme.
