- In three parts: 1) contrasts a storm at sea with the peacefulness of the English countryside; 2) visions of the great cities of history and legend are contrasted with scenes of catastrophe; 3) ranges over subject matter that occupied Turner’s last 20 years, and the last paintings of pure colour and light.
