Tukang Sampah: Masters of Waste

Synopsis
As in many developing countries, the recycling of rubbish in Indonesia is vital to the economic and social development of cities. Recycling municipal waste has transformed Surabaya into Indonesia’s cleanest city. Focuses on bottle picker and his glass collector, who supplies local recycling factories. Notes that successful recycling depends on a delicate balance of supply and demand - one all too easily upset by the relentless dumping of waste from industrialised countries.
