Traumatised Children: A Case of Child Sexual Abuse

Synopsis
Presents an account of a case of child sexual abuse as seen through the eyes of those personally involved. The sequence of events from allegation through investigation and trial to outcome unfolds through the individual stories of the child, the mother, a paediatrician, a policewoman and therapists. A child psychologist, a social worker, a sexual crime consultant and a representative of the Crown Prosecution Service also comment. By hearing the story of events following the alleged abuse from different points of view, the video demonstrates how professional intervention and the process of law can add to a child’s trauma.
