Transient Behaviour of the Diode, The
- Synopsis
- The application of a square wave voltage pulse to a diode creates a current pulse of a complex form which is difficult to interpret. However, by utilising the concentration graphs, the film gives an explanation of the transient phenomena that occur. This method of treatment demonstrates clearly how a diode presents to the circuit a capacitive or inductive load, or a combination of both, depending upon the signal amplitude and the circuit resistance. The concentration graphs are also used to explain the existence of a reverse current in the diode when the applied forward voltage falls wto zero.
