Town Bloody Hall

Synopsis
A record of a debate on the issues of women’s liberation held under the aegis of the Theater for Ideas, in New York’s Town Hall on 30 April 1971. Novelist Norman Mailer chairs a panel consisting of feminist Germaine Greer, lesbian writer Jill Johnston, literary critic Diana Trilling, and Jacqueline Ceballos, president of the New York chapter of the National Organisation for Women (NOW). Each of the women speaks for about ten minutes. Jill Johnston, chided for exceeding her time and capering with two admirers, leaves the stage - after which questions are raised by Mailer and then invited from a select portion of the audience (including Susan Sontag, Betty Friedan and Anatole Broyard).
