Total Oesophagectomy for Carcinoma

Synopsis
Shows the features in diagnosis and assessment of operability of carcinoma occurring in the middle third of, or diffusely in a wide segment of, the oesophagus. Emphasises the importance of preparation of patients before operation, in regard to the nutrition and cardio-pulmonary states. Three phase excision of the oesophagus is illustrated showing the mobilization of the stomach through an abdominal approach.
