Too Close to Home
- Synopsis
- In the last 20 years, 29 people from Armley, Leeds, have died from mesothelioma, a cancer caused by asbestos and which can lay dormant for 50 years. None of the people ever worked with asbestos, the only connection is the street where they lived. Lethal dust from a nearby asbestos factory blew into the street where the children played. Looks at the victims struggle for compensation and compares the situation with that in the United States where settlements exceed £400,000 per person.
