- Synopsis
- CITY WATCH is a series of six films about Birmingham’s Environmental Services Department. Each film follows an individual or a group of environmental health officers and other officials on a ‘typical’ day as they try to protect the people of Birmingham from diseases, filth, fraud and unscrupulous landlords. They are responsible for food hygiene and infectious diseases, health and safety, environmental protection, coroner’s services, veterinary services, waste disposal, fraud and special investigation, motor vehicle investigation & fair trading. The Waste Disposal Section enforces the regulations which control the disposal of waste, whether household, industrial or chemical. They investigate cases of ‘fly tipping’ and keep an eye on all licensed tipping sites, protect public health, water supplies and public safety.
