Time to Work, A

Synopsis
Covers the basic principles behind the concept of community service and takes account of the 1991 Criminal Justice Act. Designed to assist sentencers in the appropriate use of community service orders, it shows how this sentencing option punished by taking from offenders that most precious commodity - time. That time is used to care for the disabled, look after the elderly, etc. Also demonstrates the impact of community service orders on the offender - the demands, the discipline, the self-esteem, the opportunity to learn and the rewards.
