Biology of Spiders. No. 4: Wolf Spiders
- Synopsis
- Shows the different methods of courtship used by wolf spiders of which several species occur in the same habitat. Includes ‘Lycosa nigriceps’, ‘L. lugubris’, ‘L. amentata’, ‘Tarentula barbipes’, ‘Trochosa ruricola’, ‘Aulonia albinana’. Those species that signal with the palps each have their own method; others beat the ground, wave the front legs or, as in ‘Aulonia albinana’, lower the palps alternately to show the white patella to the female.
