This Sceptred Isle - Yorkshire

Synopsis
A British Transport Films compilation video made to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the film unit of the British Transport Commission. All but FULLY FITTED FREIGHT were produced by Edgar Anstey.
1 (director J B Holmes, 1953, b&w, 20 min): A day in the life of York railway station, one of British Railways’ busiest junction stations, observed from dawn to dusk on an autumn day, guided by the stationmaster.
2 (directors John Taylor and Charles de Lautour, 1955, b&w, 17 min). The story of how an entire Yorkshire farm - cattle, pigs, poultry, machinery, ploughs and tractors - was moved south to Sussex by rail in December 1952, on what turned out to be the coldest night of the year.
3 (directors Tony Thompson, 1955, col, 15 min): The holiday resorts of the Yorkshire coastline, with its sea, sands, funfairs and ballrooms that give pleasure to thousands of holidaymakers.
4 (director Ronald Craigen, 1962, col, 19 min): Robert Shaw in his narration describes the beauty of the Yorkshire Dales, looking at sky-sweeping hillsides, ancient rocks and caverns, market towns, abbeys and castles.
5 (producer Ian Ferguson, director Ralph Keene, 1957, b&w, 21 min): A fast-moving freight train - the 16.48 Bristol to Leeds - links manufacturers with their customers at the other end of Britain. Looks at the men who do the work and the goods they handle.
