Synopsis
Traces the beginnings of a divided theatrical development which takes place in Berlin after 1945 under the influence of political realities and which leads not only to differences in content but also to different forms of theatrical staging. Reconstructs the era 1945 to 1951, using newsreel footage from eastern and western countries. Includes interviews with Friedrich Luft, Hans Borgelt, Boleslaw Barlog, Ita Maximowna, and Hildegard Knef.
