Tensile Stress in Deep-Drawing Sheet Metal: Change in Micro-Structure

Synopsis
Shows the changes on a polished and etched surface of deep-drawing St VII 23 sheet metal under tensile stress. The stretch behaviour up to breaking-point in the elastic and plastic domain is shown. The ferritic structure is heavily deformed. The formation of slip lines in the centre as well as the edges of the grain, the deformation of the single crystallite and the heavy distortion of the surface may be seen. The break occurs gradually after increased tightening. An Encyclopaedia Cinematographica film.
