Synopsis
Includes a brief history of telecommunications from Victorian times to the present. Four case histories illustrate how efficient use of telecommunications can help promote good business and generate profits. Examples include language translation, confirmation of parcel deliveries, ‘teleshopping’, reading water meters and the role of OFTEL, the regulatory body. Concludes by looking at the future possibilities of telecommunications and showing how deaf people can use telephones when enhanced by modern technologies.
