- Synopsis
- A compilation of four programmes that introduce approaches to using the historic environment for National Curriculum work. They are intended for teacher training and to help teachers plan site visits, showing perparation, work on site, and follow-up back at school.
1 (1992, 25 min): A primary school class explores Dover Castle for work in art and music, and a GCSE group carry out a number of projects in creative writing and drama.
2 (1991, 22 min): Shows teachers of Key Stage 2 and 3 pupils preparing ideas for a visit to investigate a medieval castle and its surrounding landscape.
3 (1991, 19 min): Shows a project with Key Stage 1 pupils and includes a visit to a 17th-century house.
4 (1992, 17 min): Based around a visit to a castle, follows the preparation, on-site work and follow-up in each subject as the teachers build the skills of the pupils and evaluate the success of their work. - Language
