Tawny Owls: A Case Study

Synopsis
A research student demonstrates the techniques he used to study the populations of tawny owls, ‘Strix aluco’, and the small rodents on which the owls feed in Wytham Wood near Oxford. The use of Longwort traps, of flash photography, methods of marking and analysis of owl pellets are among the techniques shown. The survey was conducted in 1973.
