Synopsis

Looks at the life and work of French artist Henri Rousseau, chronicling his evolution from a Paris customs bureau official to a leader of the avant-garde. Rousseau persisted in his work, which includes such paintings as ‘Tiger in a Tropical Storm (Surprised!)' in the face of criticism by both critics and the publkic. Eventually, artists including Picasso and the Surrealists hearsled his talents.
