Support Networks of Older People

Synopsis
Video-based training pack based on Professor Clare Wenger’s research into the role of informal networks in the support of old people and the outcome of this research - the Support Network Typology. Older people with different network types present different patterns of problems to helping agencies and respond in different ways to the same kind of interventions. Knowing the person’s type of network makes it possible to predict what the support network is likely to be able to provide, what help it is likely to need and which intervention and combination of care services is likely to be most effective. The materials are designed to help practitioners and service providers become confident in using the Typology and fully exploit its potential in improving community care provision for oler people.
