Synopsis

Part 1 shows covalent structure of the polypeptide chain; structural characteristics of the peptide link and of the polypeptide chain. Part 2 shows the orderly arrangements of the polypeptide chain; three helical conformations known respectively as pi and 3/10 and pleated sheet arrangements. Part 3 deals with the structure of globular proteins; hydrophobic interactions, disulphide bridges, and the relationship between the structure and functions of globular proteins.*
