Story of an Air CommuniquÉ, The

Synopsis
Made for the Ministry of Information to show how accurately the figures for destroyed enemy aircraft were compiled and checked. The film has no technical credits apart from that of the GPO Film Unit itself. Concentrating on a single communiqué (the one for 15th September 1940) and looking at the individuals concerned with it (from fighter pilots to intelligence officers through fighter command to the world’s newspapermen assembled at the Ministry of Information), the film is a lesson in how to make a human story out of bald statistics.
