Stitching Up the NHS

Synopsis
Focuses on the National Health service, with NHS staff and patients speaking about falling standards, higher costs and privatisation, heralding a two-tier system. The government cliams that market forces and ‘opted out’ hospitals can only benefit the NHS. Here, the government’s proposals are dissected by those who will have to implement them. Partly recorded in the USA, where a two-tier system is already in place, the programmes reveals what the changes to health care really mean and why British professionals oppose them so bitterly.
