Stevenson’s Travels
- Synopsis
- Celebrates the life and work of Robert Louis Stevenson, who died on 3 December 1894 at the age of 44. Part 1 tells the story of Stevenson’s restless life, from a sickly childhood in Edinburgh, which he left in quest of a climate more suited for his bronchial problems. Part 2 covers his last 14 years, in which he wrote ‘Treasure Island’. The circumstances of his death are recalled by an eyewitness, his stepdaughter Belle Strong. Other contributors are P D James, Candia McWilliam and Alasdair Gray.
