Spring Re-Loaded 1 (8 Parts)
- Synopsis
- Recordings of contemporary dance performances from the 1994 Spring Loaded season held at The Place, London. The two-camera live mix version does not interpret the work but does capture the spontaneity of live performance.
1 (62 min): Combines of modern techniques including Graham Cunninham, classical ballet and the dances of Polynesia.
2 (59 min): Inspired by the true story of two lovers, a Muslim and a Serb tragically shot while trying to escape Sarajevo.
3 (56 min): Combines juggling with contemporary dance to create a tightly structured and rhythmic dance performance.
4 (64 min): A style which carries ‘a lyric emotional feel unusual in modern male choreographers’.
5 (115 min): ‘Uses non-dance techniques to create theatrical and spiritual metaphors’.
6 (73 min): Combines traditional South Asian narrative dance forms to ‘comment on the role of women in modern South Asian society’.
7 (67 min): Large group works which use unison and canon, ‘a kaleidoscope of varying and repeating movement patterns’.
8 (53 min): ‘Concentrates on the games people play which, as the action develops...take on a more adult perspective, examining deep inner traumas’. - Language
