- Synopsis
- Explores the relationship between religion and art in Spain during the Golden Age of 17th-century Spain, looking at how painting servied the aims of the Catholic Church and how it reflected and encouraged devotion, especially to the Immaculate Conception. Looks at the religious painting of Velézquez, the decorative schemes of Zurbarán and Murillo and the work of Ribalta and Valdés Leal. Includes footage filmed on location in the monsasteries of Seville and Guadalupe, and in the Hospital de la Caridad in Seville.
